Checklist for Separating Employees

Please review the following list and take action where applicable.

  • Submit a letter of resignation or letter stating you will not returing after a leave of absence, stating your final day of employment to your supervisor.  A cc to your Academic Personnel/Payroll Analyst or Department Manager will ensure accurate processing of your separation.  The letter of resignation must be acknowledged by your supervisor in order to proceed with an separation action.
  • If graduating, notify your BSOE Academic Personnel/Payroll Analyst that you are graduating.  A letter of resignation is not required.
  • Submit payment for any outstanding personal expenses such as phone or travel charges to the Baskin School of Engineering Business Office.
  • Submit your final time record(s) if applicable.
  • Non U.S. Citizens only: notify International Scholar and Student Services about your departure date.
  • Postdoctoral only: notify Garnett-Powers and Associates regarding the changes to your Postdoctoral Scholar Benefits Plan (800)254-1758 psbp@garnett-powers.com.
  • Retirement Contributors only: contact Fidelity Investments 866-682-7787 or via At your Service Online if you which to request a disbursement or change your Defined Contribution Plan (DCP), 403(b), or 457(b) plans.
  • Remove all personal files from your work computer.
  • Remove all voice messages from your work telephone.
  • Return ID, keys, copy cards, calling cards, ProCards, Visa Travel Cards, and/or CTS Air Fare Cards to the appropriate departments.
  • Return parking permit to TAPS to stop parking charges and for possible pro-rated refund.
